This summer has been so much fun, although very hot, we joined a neighborhood pool which is perfect for cooling off. Oliver has turned in to such a little water bug and I love it. Coming from 15 years of competitive swimming, I knew I wanted Oliver to be comfortable with water right from the start. He has been a little champion, and the afternoon naps are pretty awesome too.
Bathing suits and comfort do not go hand in hand with me very well. I’ve always been self conscious and uncomfortable in a swimming suit. Last summer I was in that awkward phase of just having a newborn, still some baby weight to lose and my stomach was still a little swollen.
This summer I decided it was time to invest in a few bathing suits that I was comfortable in, but most of all, that I could play with Oliver in the pool and not feel awkward.
I tried on this Bleu Rod Beattie: Driving Miss Paisley one-piece and fell in love. This suit is EXTREMELY out of my comfort zone because I don’t wear that many patterns, but I felt amazing when I tried it on. It was well worth the investment because I now have something that I can wear for a few years and feel like a rock star.
I’m also a total sucker for anything black. I found a few one-piece suits that were basic black and I know I can wear them with anything. They have great gathering in the mid section to hide a little bit of the mummy-tummy.

Oliver on the other hand, is SO fun to shop for! I’m biased, but he looks cute in just about anything. I did some shopping at Hanna Andersson and found the most adorable swim trunks for him. We’re also a huge fan of Crocs . They are so easy to slip on for the pool and running errands, and they come in just about any color!
