Now that we are slowly getting settled in to the new house, I am tackling each room with furniture and decor galore. I work best if I do one room at a time. We opted for a Modern Playroom on a Budget. We spend about 90% of our time here and it only made sense to establish a fun play area for him.
So the next room I really wanted to finish was Oliver’s playroom. It isn’t so much of a room as it is the upstairs loft. It’s a nice open space and we had our previous couches to recycle for a perfect fit.
My handy DANdy husband – see what I did there 😉  wall mounted our television so that I could slip this beautiful 9-cube organizer underneath and add some great storage. I love this piece because it was so easy to put together and the 13″ cubbies are the perfect size.
I really wanted to keep the room flowing with the rest of our house, so I minimized any childish decor. I try to think of it as keeping things minimalistic.
I’m afraid to part with my beautiful Joss & Main reclaimed wood table, but I would love to purchase the IKEA Latt children’s table. It would be so fun to paint and turn in to Oliver’s little creative space!
I’m also still itching to grab a fun play kitchen and this one would be a perfect match to the cubby shelves! A few of Oliver’s favorite toys are these Little Tykes Waffle Block Train Set, Chalkboard Easel and these Melissa & Doug puzzles.
We still have plenty of work to do, I feel like this room will continue to grow as baby#2 comes along.
You can still have your space in the play room just add the table for your son in a different part of the room. You all will spend hours in that room so there should be space for you as well.
I LOVE the style of this room! Pinning for future inspiration 🙂
I also love the cubbies for our kid’s play area. The thing we both (parents and kids) love about their play area is that they have their own space. 🙂
